- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, ensuring overhang for easy removal.
- In a large bowl, use an electric mixer or whisk to beat softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until mixture is light and fluffy.
- Incorporate vanilla extract and eggs, adding them one at a time and blending until thoroughly combined.
- Whisk flour, salt, and baking soda together in a separate bowl. Gradually blend dry mixture into wet ingredients just until integrated.
- Using a spatula, gently fold chocolate chips into the dough ensuring even distribution.
- Spread dough evenly in the prepared pan. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until golden and set. Remove and cool completely in the pan.
- Once fully cooled, lift the bars from the pan using parchment overhang and cut into even portions using a sharp knife.
- In each serving bowl, place a cookie dough bar. Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, drizzle with warm chocolate sauce, scatter nuts if desired, and finish with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry.
